With stricter street parking regulations going into effect, there has been a steady reduction in the number of available parking spaces on the street. This shortage of parking means that people will try to wedge their cars fit into spaces that are to small, bumping and pushing the car in front and back. These bumper to bumper contacts have resulted in an increasing number of parking related complaints. Front license plate frames and exposed license plate screws can easily pierce the bumper skin and can scratch the bumper surface. Taller SUVs have the advantage here because their bumpers are higher than the average car, giving them some bumper protection. Nonetheless, SUVs are notorious to damaging car bumpers, since their tall bumper easily override the allowing SUV bumpers to over ride the front or rear bumper of cars, causing damage. Without some sort of barrier (bumper protection) to prevent the intrusion you could be stuck with the repair bill at the end of your lease term or when you trade in the vehicle.
